Nothando Ntshayintshayi is a Masters Research Trainee within the Inclusive Economic Development (IED) division at the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) and a Master?s Candidate at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. The key areas of her research include the role of the government in aiding the development and advancement of young African females, the role of the education system as well as the influence of family structures and support.

Ntshayintshayi holds an undergraduate degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, a Bachelor of Social Science in Geography and Environmental Management, and is currently in the final stage of her Master?s in Developments Studies in the School of Built Environment. Her thesis is titled ?Exploring the factors that contribute to shaping the goals, aspirations and resilience of young African females in KwaMashu Township, Durban?.

Prior to joining the team at the HSRC, Ntshayintshayi worked as an Intern Researcher in Rural Development and Economic development projects at UMSIZI. Her involvement in non-profit organisations is marked by her work in teaching Writing skills to high school pupils. Her passion for sharing knowledge and education was extended by her services as a Student Assistant Librarian at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Nothando is involved in the Imprint of Education (TIE) project, a longitudinal cohort study exploring transformative leadership among young Africans, funded by the MasterCard Foundation.
