He was invited to the Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience (CAWR) by Prof Stefanie Lemke building on previous collaborations on the potential of renewable energy in rural areas of South Africa and social dynamics of natural resource use in the Richtersveld National Park. Tim had the opportunity to participate in two seminars: : 1) Art/Science Exchange: conversation between the Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) and the Centre for Agroecology, Water & Resilience (CAWR); 2) Food Sovereignty Meeting, with a seminar on the research project “Governance of natural resources for food sovereignty”.

Tim had the opportunity to engage with numerous CAWR research colleagues from multiple disciplines and had several engagements with the director of CAWR, Prof Michel Piembert around the research done at CAWR and the HSRC. CAWR has a strong research footprint in West, East and Southern Africa. We are in the process of developing future collaborations regarding research, hosting colleagues and delivering seminars, writing projects and other activities between the HSRC and CAWR. An MOU has been discussed and is in process with the University of Coventry.
