The unemployment crisis in rural areas is worsening.
A Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) report suggests COVID-19 has widened the gap between cities and rural areas. The report says job losses in rural areas are continuing even though the lockdown has eased.
HSRC Researcher Justin Visagie says unemployment rates jumped dramatically in both cities and rural areas.
