More needed to help Covid-19-struck small-scale farmers

Over the past few weeks, there has been a lot of talk about how to rebuild, and ultimately, strengthen our economy, which has been severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown.
The University of Johannesburg and Human Sciences Research Council’s Covid-19 Democracy Survey, released in the first week of May, has found that 34% of the 3 543 survey respondents had gone to bed hungry during the lockdown, up from 28% the week before.
