Understanding context is key to advancing student success

In June 2021 we published an article in the Special COVID-19 issue of the Journal of Student Affairs in Africa based on our research with student affairs practitioners about the impact of the pandemic in which we argued that the success of students and higher education relies heavily on the kind of context into which learning and development are embedded.

Professor Thierry M Luescher is the research director for post-schooling and work in the Inclusive Economic Development research division at the Human Sciences Research Council and head of the Inclusive Economic Development Cape Town office, South Africa.
