HIV Testing and Counselling (HTC) services for Trans Women in Small Town South Africa
Abstract
Objectives of the study
a. To establish partnerships and linkages with trans women living in the Matzikama local municipality in the Western Cape province
b. To establish partnerships with representatives of the healthcare department; professional and lay healthcare staff; opinion leaders and key stakeholders working with trans women and LGBTI communities in the Matzikama local municipality in the Western Cape province
c. To provide an ethnographic description of the structural, social and economic factors that impact the HTC practices of trans women in the Matzikama local municipality in the Western Cape province
d. To use the ethnographic findings towards the development of a HTC package that is inclusive of gender - affirming care for trans women
