Abstract

The study aims to (i) Conduct a randomized controlled trial (RCT) comparing the efficacy of the dyadic intervention versus a standard of care condition on outcomes of: linkage and retention in care and viral suppression, among a sample of 350 heterosexual sero-discordant and concordant positive couples in KwaZulu-Natal; (ii) Examine the impact of the proposed dyadic intervention on sexual risk-taking and relationship factors theoretically linked to enabling couples to work together on managing and engaging in HIV care; and (iii) Using qualitative methods, examine the experiences of couples exposed to the intervention, to further explore the pathways to change in HIV care behaviors.
