Comprehensive Research on the Status of Gender-Based Violence
Abstract
To produce a comprehensive research paper on the status of GBV civil society funding in South Africa with a specific focus on better understanding the landscape, the scale of funding, the flow of funding, the focus of funding, the challenges and opportunities for the sector, the impact of funding and the key trends emerging that impacts on the sector.
Secondary Objectives:
To determine the allocation of funding to different aspects of work on gender-based violence (advocacy, counseling and support, access to justice, prevention)
To provide an empirical basis for developing a deeper and wider understanding of gender-based violence civil society funding in South Africa;
To use this as an important base document for the Partner Wide workshop for 2013, which focuses on Strategically Positioning the Sector;
To use the report as a Joint Gender Fund (JFG) tool to mobilize additional donors and to share information on what is taking place in the sector.
