Abstract

Building models of child development to accurately predict what child outcomes will be given a particular context and child is impossible. This however does not mean we should not build models. Efforts to build as realistic as possible models can be highly informative, and provide a framework within which data can be organized. Models force us to re-examine data in particularly rigorous ways in order to determine what we can and cannot say about interventions and contexts and associated risks and outcomes.
