Scoping the availability and accessibility of ECD services Shebeen and Taverns in Walmer Township

Abstract

To explore the availability and accessibility of registered and unregistered ECD services in the study site using an asset mapping methodology. To explore the knowledge, attitudes, behaviours and perceptions (KABP) of ECD staff regarding the link between ECD services, crime and violence prevention, and child and family wellbeing. Identify the licensed and unlicensed shebeens and taverns in and around Walmer Township and map the location of the licensed and unlicensed taverns and shebeens using reference keys (community mapping) Explore shebeens and taverns or owners. KABP related to the alcohol and substance abuse importance of registering their services/business. link between alcohol consumption , crime and violence (including interpersonal violence, gender-based violence, family violence, domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, sexual violence) and individual, family and community safety, and their sense of responsibility to address these.
