Senior Scientific Collaboration on the Malezi II Early Child Development Program Evaluation Study
Abstract
The goal of this collaboration between Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) and the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) is to support a quasi-experimental research evaluation of the Malezi II program, implemented with funding from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. Malezi II is a follow-up early child development (ECD) program which scales up the health systems-based program of Malezi I. During Malezi II, additional media-related interventions will be introduced to improve ECD knowledge and early stimulation practices health providers and caregivers. The research objective is to:
Contribute to the ECD evidence base through a quasi-experimental study designed to evaluate the effect of exposure to various ECD communication channels on ECD knowledge and early stimulation behaviors of caregivers of children under 3 years of age, and on the quality of community health worker (CHW) ECD support during household visits.
