Abstract

The goal of this collaboration between Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) and the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) is to support a quasi-experimental research evaluation of the Malezi II program, implemented with funding from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. Malezi II is a follow-up early child development (ECD) program which scales up the health systems-based program of Malezi I. During Malezi II, additional media-related interventions will be introduced to improve ECD knowledge and early stimulation practices health providers and caregivers. The research objective is to: Contribute to the ECD evidence base through a quasi-experimental study designed to evaluate the effect of exposure to various ECD communication channels on ECD knowledge and early stimulation behaviors of caregivers of children under 3 years of age, and on the quality of community health worker (CHW) ECD support during household visits.
