Abstract

The purpose of the study is to conduct a desktop literature review and assessment of the state of youth in Gauteng to enable the Office of the Premier to have an in depth understanding of the challenges and opportunities that are faced by the youth. The following key activities will be undertaken; - Conduct an assessment of the state of research on Youth in Gauteng Province; - Conduct desktop research and interviews with officials in implementing provincial departments and municipalities, and focus group interviews with members of the designated groups to determine relevant demographic trends; - Conduct a literature review and assessment of the state of Youth in Gauteng and engage with relevant stakeholders; - Ensure reliability and validity of the interpretation of data from the systematic literature review and conduct group dialogue sessions with key non-governmental organisations that focus on youth development issues; and - Hold key informant interviews with the business/private sector
