Understanding Violence Xenophobia between South african Nationals and African Immigrants and the Policy Response in Gauteng Province

Abstract

The proposed study will provide an assessment of the policy and institutional framework for preventing the reoccurrence of violence against immigrants including those who some South Africans have labelled as "socially undesirable". To explore and explicate the roots of violence against African immigrants in South Africa. To understand the ways in which African immigrants experience xenophobia. To understand the attitudes of local communities afffected by xenophobia towards African immigrants and other immigrants and explicate the basis of various attitudes.
