Abstract

The main aim of the proposed study is to investigate the nutrition and health status of women of different age groups (10+ years) in South Africa, with particular focus to the double-burden of malnutrition (i.e. co-existence of the under- and over-nutrition and nutrient deficiencies in the same household). The determinants of malnutrition will be explained and relationships between these determinants and the development of metabolic disease will be explored.
