Abstract
The purpose of this project as stipulated in the Matthew Goniwe School of Leadership & Governance (MGSLG) terms of reference (ToR, February 2014) is to conduct a need analysis study for the school district officials in the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE). It is to identify capacity building needs of all the district officials against their job description. Lastly, the purpose is to design and develop a capacity building plan for all officials in GDE district office and identify critical skills, resources and behavioural changes that are required for officials to perform in their job more effectively. The study will focus on all the district personnel within an education school district.
The goal of the project is to maximize the impact of capacity building programmes soon to be implemented by the MGSLG in the GDE school districts. Thus, the ultimate goal is that the effective support provided to schools will translate and result into improved learners??? achievement.
