Abstract

Wave 1 of SAGE was conducted during 2007 by the HSRC on behalf of the WHO. The data collected comprised responses from 3800 individuals. The Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) conducted analysis of the resultant data in collaboration with the WHO. The data collection for Wave 2 of SAGE was conducted by Outsourced Insight during 2015. The resultant dataset comprised approximately 4500 individual responses from about 3000 households, some of which had been visited in Wave 1, and some being new respondents. (The dataset is still being finalised, hence the approximations). The HSRC hereby proposes that it would collect the data and conduct analysis thereof, in line with its statutory research objectives and imperatives, for Wave 3 of SAGE, starting sometime during 2017. The HSRC has the requisite skills and capacity to undertake this project.
