Abstract

More than 50 years after the attainment of political independence, many African countries, mostly former French colonies, still rely on metropolitan France to resolve their intricate socio-political, and developmental problems. The recent military intervention of France in the Cote d'Ivoire, Central African Republic and Mali points to this disturbing scenario.
