Abstract
this chapter addresses some of the challenges that accompany attempts to monitor child sexual abuse. We commence with problems of definition and estimations of prevalence and incidence, and then proceed to consider some sources of South African data, including the use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to plot the characteristics of spaces that constitute particular risks to children. The chapter concludes with recommendations for local practice.-
