Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has threatened the health and livelihoods of millions of people. In South Africas existing context of poverty, inequality and unemployment, it was an added burden, leading to vibrant debates on how to support the most vulnerable members of society. One of these debates focuses on the resurgence of local and international demands for a universal basic income guarantee (UBIG).
