Abstract
Mere weeks into the COVID-19 pandemic, HSRC experts warned of the negative effect it could have on South Africa's education system, an effect felt in other countries too, particularly those in the Global South. Recently, a special issue of the Journal of Education used the COVID-19 pandemic as a starting point to interrogate and reflect critically on how crises and pandemics intersect with existing educational challenges.-
