Abstract
The primary overall objective of this survey was to gather information about the attitudes and perceptions regarding energy use in South Africa. The department of Energy purchased a set of questions in the 2012 round of the South African Social Attitudes Survey (SASAS). SASAS is an annual survey undertaken by the Human Sciences Research Council and is a nationally representative survey which focuses on all South Africans 16 years and older. The survey focused on access to electricity; multiple fuel use; energy poverty; satisfaction with the provision of electricity; quality of electricity; pricing of electricity; energy saving measures; awareness of Free Basic Electricity; civil issues and views on various policy preferences.-
