As Research Director (RD) and Strategic Lead (Acting): Identity and Belonging, previously Chief Research Specialist (CRS) and Senior Research Specialist (SRS), in the Pretoria office of the Human and Social Development (HSD) Programme at the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), I have a successful track record of fundraising, publishing and networking with government departments, international funders, and Chapter 9 institutions among others. For example, in 2018 I raised R33 million for a two year project on schools and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) across Eastern and Southern Africa. As Research Director I sit on the HSD Management Committee (MANCO) and lead the `Genders and Sexualities in Africa? (GSA) Theme within HSD which brings together a team of researchers through funded projects and the publication of related research focused on issues of sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) across the continent.
