Abstract

The Department of Science and Technology (DST) has commissioned the Centre for Science Technology and Innovation Indicators (CeSTII) to undertake the first official national innovation survey (to cover the period 2002-2004). The aim is to run a survey that is comparable both in terms of methodology and content with the CIS4, but that also takes into account the particulars of the South African situation. This survey will form part of a new proposed series of official South African statistics on science and technology.
