EEE Cape Town Office writing workshop
Abstract
In our capacities as Head of Office and Deputy Head of Office in the Cape Town branch of EEE, we would like to propose that an amount be applied to funding a 5-day writing workshop for the Cape Town Office staff. We would like to utilise these funds for organising a week of collaborative capacity building focused on developing writing and support for writing for publication. In 2023 we held such a writing workshop from 20-24 February. The workshop included group coaching sessions, individual coaching sessions, as well as group and independent writing time. The workshop was greatly appreciated by our research trainees and early career researchers, as well as our mid-career and senior career researchers as a great opportunity for capacity building, focused collaboration, and team building. We believe that a writing workshop away from the office in CT in a beautiful setting, conducive to scholarly thought and writing, with a writing coach present, will again be most beneficial and an effective, developmental, and output-focused use of surplus funds.
