Abstract

The proposed study aims to collect data on levels of satisfaction with services provided by the Gauteng Department of Human Settlements (GDHS). In so doing the baseline data collected should in future be useful in the ???strengthening relationships between government and the communities and also contribute towards strengthening democracy in the province. In line with the terms of reference and to be able to gauge the levels of resident satisfaction with the services provided by the GDHS, the specific objectives of this study include: To unravel the theory of change that underlies the provision of services to residents by the GDHS; To develop baseline data on satisfaction levels on services provided by the department; To determine the overall customer satisfaction with the department???s products and services; To measure and prioritise areas where improvement will most affect customer satisfaction; To identify the public perception of departmental ???key areas of weakness??? and ???key areas of strength???; To understand the level of Gauteng citizen satisfaction levels in terms of human settlements development; To understand the level of understanding of services provided by the department; To understand how or where do citizens rank housing in their order of importance in relation to other services; To assess the value add that the department provides to the public
