Knowledge, Attitudes and Behaviours (KAP) survey of students towards HIV/AIDS at higher education institutions and FET colleges in South Africa

Abstract

The goal of this study is to evaluate knowledge, attitudes and behaviours towards HIV and AIDS in the Further Education and Training Sector in South Africa. The specific objectives of the study are to: 1.Assess the level of knowledge about different aspects of HIV/AIDS and identify information sources about HIV/AIDS; 2.Examine the attitudes of learners at universities and TVET colleges towards HIV/AIDS and stigma related to HIV problems 3.Assess the sexual behaviours and the scope of risk behaviours related to the possibilities of getting infected with HIV 4.Evaluate the effectiveness of existing programmes about HIV/AIDS that are currently provided in HEIs.
