Abstract

The aim of this study is to undertake a secondary data analysis of OVCY data from the 2012 HSRC Household Survey. The consultancy includes the analysis of factors contributing to vulnerability of OVCY. Objectives of the study The objectives of the study are to: 1.Estimate the prevalence of Orphans, Vulnerable Children and Youth in the 2012 HSRC Household Survey 2.Estimate the HIV prevalence of Orphans, Vulnerable Children and Youth in the 2012 HSRC Household Survey 3.Estimate vulnerability among children and youth in South Africa through proxies such as service access, exposure to crime, physical violence among others 4.Describe the knowledge levels and attitudes of OVCY towards HIV/AIDS 5.Identify behaviours and practices that put OVCY at risk of HIV/AIDS.
