Abstract
This document has been written to prompt discussion within South Africa's Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA), and possibly government-wide. It proposes five principles that underpin an evidence-informed approach to policy making. It derives from work done in DEA in 2014 and 2015 and builds on many good practices that have been identified across the department.-
