Ms Tshegofatso Hilda Ramaphakela

Tshegofatso Ramaphakela is a master?s research intern in the Developmental, Capable & Ethical State research division (DCES) at the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), South Africa. She holds an Honour?s degree in Public Management and Governance from the University of Johannesburg (UJ) and is currently in her final year of her master?s in Sustainable Urban Planning and Development at UJ.

Experience and special projects: Tshegofatso joined DCES as a junior researcher in March 2020 and has been involved in the data collection phase of the Covid-19 telephone survey. The South African Cities Network (SANC) Urban Governance Indicators report with Dr Lunga in DCES. She is currently involved in a study titled, Estimation of the prevalence and indices of antibodies against the Covid-19 Virus in South Africa with Dr Parker. Additionally, on the NECT Evaluation proposal with Dr Cosser. Prior to joining the HSRC DCES division, she worked at UJ?s Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment as a faculty admin assistant. Then joined the City of Ekurhuleni, Environmental Resources and Waste Management department (2017-September 2019). Her master?s research focuses on insurgent spatial planning practices and civic apathy, investigating how people relate to government institutions planning and how participation can be used as a governance tool.
