Research into recent student movements

Abstract

With joint funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the National Research Foundation, research into recent student movements has highlighted the implications of massification on the higher education system. The student experience, especially of first-generation students from historically disadvantaged communities; student mental health and wellbeing; and university governance are critical areas for ongoing research. This area of work is further informed by studies on transforming higher education (funded by the Department of Higher Education and Training), that makes recommendations for policy shifts especially around decolonising and deracialising education.
