Abstract

Background: The CSP is an initiative of National Treasury in collaboration with key government departments to address spatial inequalities and development challenges at the city level. Aim: The aim of the CSP is to harness human, financial and institutional capacity to improve planning, implementations and innovation in order that cities may be inclusive and liveable, productive, and environmentally, financially and economically efficient, while being resilient to change. Foci: This project addresses governance issues of citizen engagement, strengthening governance to counter corruption in the metros as well as social and environmental management. Highlights: The research partnership between the DGSD and the School of Business at Medgar Evers College of the City University of New York (CUNY) brings together international footprints, relevance, local knowledge and experience.
