Abstract

The South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO) has been managing a human capacity development programme aimed at developing the relevant capacity and skills in radio astronomy-related science and engineering. In order to gauge the impact of the programme and determine whether it has reached its goals, it is important to know the outcomes of the recipients of the programme. It is also key to understand the attitudes of recipients to the programme, gain insight into their experience of the programme, and to determine, beyond their current activity, what the impact of the programme has been for these individuals. The HSRC will be required to trace the career movements of SARAO postgraduate and post-doctoral alumni and to investigate the impact of the SARAO human capacity development programme.
